MCESD Kicks Off Discussions on Malta’s Vision 2050

The process by which MCESD will be providing proactive input to the Government announced Malta Vision 2050 process was kicked off by a first meeting of a purposely set up MCESD Task Force. The meeting provided an overview of the proposed approach to be adopted to garner the social partners’ contributions and allowed for initial discussions and exchanges of views.

This initiative underscores the commitment of MCESD and Malta’s social partners to a shared vision of a competitive, people centred, resilient economy that has as its ultimate goal a superior quality of life for Maltese citizens. Social partners provided valuable, constructive insights, bringing diverse perspectives and ground-level considerations to the table. Their input to the Government announced process ensures that Malta’s path towards Vision 2050 will be both inclusive and reflective of the needs of the community.

MCESD Chairperson Perit David Xuereb emphasised the ambitious goal: “We must move in the direction we believe is best for Malta—not an easy exercise, but we are determined to support and shape a Malta Vision 2050 that truly reflects the aspirations of our country and our people in an honest and open manner.” This collective national effort aims to position Malta as a sustainable, innovative, and economically secure nation within evolving European and global landscapes.

Based on the knowledge and experience of the social partners and its consultants, MCESD has set the structures to provide invaluable grassroot proactive input to the drafting of Malta’s Vision 2050—the country we want to be.
