The Council is composed of a Chairperson appointed by the Government, a Deputy Chairperson, a representative of the Minister for Finance, and a representative of the Minister responsible for Social Dialogue. It also comprises the presidents of the four main employers’ organisations, namely the Malta Employers’ Association (MEA), the Malta Chamber of Commerce, Enterprise and Industry, the Malta Hotels and Restaurants Association (MHRA), and the Chamber for Small and Medium Enterprises (SME Chamber).
The Council also includes the General Secretaries of the main trade unions, namely the General Workers’ Union (GWU) and UĦM Voice of the Workers, as well as the President of the Forum of Maltese Unions (For.U.M.) and the President of the Confederation of Malta Trade Unions (CMTU).
In addition, the Chairpersons of the Regional Committee for Gozo and the Civil Society Committee are also members of the Council, in accordance with Act IV of 2012.
