Social partners and NGOs to benefit from €2m in EU funds
Social partners and NGOs are set to benefit from €2 million in European funds in a call for project proposals. This was announced by Parliamentary Secretary for EU Funds Stefan Zrinzo Azzopardi.
The call is for project proposals co-financed from European funds for social partners forming part of MCESD and other non-governmental organisations which actively contribute to society. Social partners include representatives of trade unions, business organisations, employer and employee associations, among others.
The call of €2 million is to promote a more participatory society through social dialogue. The parliamentary secretariat said that the main objective is to incentivise these entities to revolve their work around a more inclusive society in a bid for opportunities to reach everyone.
Parliamentary Secretary Stefan Zrinzo Azzopardi said that, through European funds, the government is investing more in social partners and organisations to nurture a stronger society.
Mario Cutajar, deputy chairman of the MCESD board, said that civil society provides the foundations for our society, whereby the policies incentivise the work conducted by these entities.
Mr Cutajar further explained that these funds are not only important for civil society but are also essential for our society as a whole.
The applications will close on September 30, 2020.
