Food security discussed during MCESD Civil Society Committee meeting

The Civil Society Committee within MCESD met on Friday to discuss food security.

Two speakers addressed the meeting, Mr Malcolm Borg, from the MCAST Agribusiness Institute, and Mr Eman Vella, consultant in the agricultural sector.
The discussion focused on the need for consumers to consume local produce, and on the fact that due to Covid-19, a number of consumers were likely to go for the price more than quality as a result of financial restraints.

Another point that emerged was the fact that although EU funding was available for farmers, the procedure to apply for funds remained bureaucratic.
